Editorial Policy, Sources and Corrections

In short: the TravelerCenter team writes from official and primary sources first, dates every fact that changes, and checks every page by hand before it goes live. Money we earn never decides what a guide recommends.

Who writes our guides

Our guides are written and edited by the TravelerCenter team, a small team of researchers and writers. We are not a travel agency, a tour operator or a government office, and our guides are not legal, medical or immigration advice.

How we research

  • Official sources first. Entry and visa rules from government and EU sources; safety notes from official travel advisories (such as the U.S. State Department and the UK Foreign Office); climate from national weather services; visitor numbers from national statistics offices and UN Tourism.
  • Tourism boards and operators. Opening hours, prices and transport from the attraction, park, airport or operator itself. When we rely on a secondary source, we say so.
  • Maps and places. Locations, boundaries and points of interest come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL) and Wikidata (CC0). We keep the original source references for every place.
  • Every changing fact is dated. Each page shows when we last reviewed its facts, and our estimates (such as daily costs) are labelled as estimates.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help us gather sources, organize research and write first drafts. A person on our team then checks the facts against the original sources, edits the text and decides what is published. We do not publish AI-written text without that check, and AI tools do not choose which products or places we recommend.

How we earn money, and how we keep it out of our advice

Reading our guides is free. Some links, for example to tours on Viator or gear on Amazon, earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. No one can pay for a place in a guide. Read our affiliate disclosure.

Updates and corrections

Rules, prices and timetables change. Always confirm entry requirements and safety advice with official sources before you travel. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will check it and fix the page.
