This policy explains what information TravelerCenter collects when you visit, how it is used, and your choices. TravelerCenter is published by Staricon.
What we collect
- Messages you send us. If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email, subject and message, plus your IP address and browser for spam protection, and use them only to reply.
- Visit statistics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and how visitors find the site. It uses cookies; we don’t use it to identify you.
- Maps. Our maps load map images (tiles) from a map provider, which receives your IP address and browser to send them. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Server logs. Our web host keeps technical logs (such as IP address and browser) for security and to keep the site running.
- Trip plans you email to yourself. When you use “Email me this plan”, we keep your email address, a reference number, what you searched for (places, dates, travelers’ ages and preferences) and whether you asked for travel tips and deals. We use it to send your plan, to help if you contact us, and to understand what travelers look for. We only send marketing emails if you ticked the box, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
- Free accounts. After a few free trip plans you can create a free account with your first name and email address. We send a link to confirm the address and sign you in (there is no password), and we keep your name, email, the date you confirmed it and how many new plans you have made. A small cookie remembers how many free plans this browser has used.
- The AI Travel Planner. Your trip answers (places, dates, ages and preferences, never your name or email) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to write the plan. Plans are saved without personal details so the same trip can be shown again quickly.
- Your approximate location. To save typing, our tools and planner guess your country and nearest city from your device’s time zone and your browser language, in your browser. Your exact location is used only when you tap a button such as “Near me”, after your browser asks you.
Affiliate links and other sites
Some links take you to stores and booking sites such as Amazon, which may set their own cookies so they know you came from us (see our affiliate disclosure). Once you are on another site, its privacy policy applies.
Cookies
We use cookies for visit statistics, and stores use them for affiliate links. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site still works.
Your choices
You can ask us to show, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, such as a message you sent or a trip plan you emailed to yourself. Write to us through our contact page. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
